A Woman's Perspective ~ Home Plan Makeover
Mary found her ideal home plan; she made a few tweaks and now it’s perfect!
Homeowner’s Profile: Mary and John are semi-retired empty nesters. John’s mother is moving in with them and they needed to select a floor plan that accommodated her needs as well as their own. They found a
plan with a third bedroom that they could easily convert to a parent suite. They also wanted to open up the great room and kitchen area.

Modifications Mary made to the Cameron, #5036:
-
Reconfigured the main living area by adding a wing island and moving the open stairway to the front of the great room.
-
Added a corner fireplace and created a large window wall in the back of the great room and breakfast area.
-
Created a larger pantry while rearranging the appliances to be more functional.
-
Added two entrances from the garage into the home: 1) to the main house’s rear foyer with a drop zone and coat closet and 2) to the new apartment suite.
-
Converted the den space to two functional spaces: 1) a pocket office (opening to the front foyer) and 2) a large laundry/craft room with ample space for a dog shower.
-
Moved the kitchen back to provide additional space for a half bath near the rear foyer.
